Kh-47M2 Kinzhal

Kinzhal (Dagger), 9-S-7760, Kh-47M2

Air-launched ballistic missile carried by a modified MiG-31 fighter to strike high-value ground targets at long range with little warning.

$4,500,000 Contract price in Russian procurement documents obtained by Militarnyi: RUB 366 million (about $4.5 million) per missile for 44 missiles ordered in 2024 and 144 for 2025. Higher figures circulate ($10 million on Wikipedia, $15 million attributed to Forbes Ukraine) but were not verified here and are not contract prices.

CSIS gives a range of 1,500 to 2,000 km and a 480 kg nuclear or conventional payload; the range figure is commonly read as including the launch aircraft's reach, and CSIS does not separate the two. The top speed of Mach 10 (12,350 km/h, CSIS conversion) is a Russian claim; CSIS says it accelerates to Mach 4 after launch, and Militarnyi reports Mach 5.5 in the manoeuvring phase, halving near the target, where Patriot has intercepted it. Length, diameter and the 4,300 kg launch weight come from a single report cited by CSIS. Russia calls it hypersonic, but CSIS notes nearly all ballistic missiles exceed Mach 5 at some point in flight.
